Not the dime, but the rubber knob thing (probably off the feet of something you dont want scratching your table). Do you know a child that is constantly getting sick again....strep, bacterial pnuemonia and other seeming chronic coughs? Has this child been back and forth to the doctor, diagnosed with a mild asthma, taken all sorts of rounds of meds, cleared the cough only to have it return again after only a week? Do x rays show an infection in the RIGHT-side lung? Does the fever come to around 101.5? but not go 103+(ER visit) Is the child testy, waking up thru the night to cough? If so, that child like Loyal, may have inhaled something and got it stuck in his right lung for many months. Of course if its rubber or plastic, it wont appear on the X-ray, but its a straight shot down to the right lung. The ER tried cup therapy(tapping on his back to dislodge) and intravenous antibiotics, but the prognosis was a bronchioscopy. so they Anesthetized Loyal, then went down his throat with a fiber optic and a tube, working their way down the branches of his lung until they found this black foreign object. Because of the tapered shape and the barbed crown on the rubber object, they had an extra tough time loosing it free. , but when they did, all the trapped infection sauce came away too. They cleared him out and after another round of antis, Loyal is 10 times the happy crazy kid he was. No asthma, seems to be missing all the ills of flu season and he sleeps thru the night like a rock. That was the craziest thing, but the doctors said that worse is pulling watch batteries out of kids lungs. Especially if they have started to corrode. But Im just glad my little guy is all better and breathing great. Its so weird that in all those prior visits to the doctors, that they couldnt diagnose that, but Maybe the diagnosis is based on a short history of symptoms and sick as it was for Loyal. Pretty scary, but in the end were so happy that wingnut is better, stronger faster. Ill be surprised if he ever gets sick again after everything he caught and handled and kept trapped. Anyway, if you know of a child who.....Think Bronchioscopy. Only takes half an hour.
