Note of Encouragement: Do Not Worry About Tomorrow The bible verse Matthew 6:34 tells us “do not worry about tomorrow”. Worry is looking at the future and believing a negative outcome. In Jeremiah 29:11, God declares His plans for us are for good and not evil. This means our tomorrows are filled with God’s goodness. God Almighty who created the Universe, who stands outside of time and holds our lives in His hands is also our caring Heavenly Father. With this as our perspective and focus, we have no need to worry about tomorrow or the situation around us. The greater our awareness of the bigness of our God, the less worry will consume our thoughts. Worry originates from fear - the fear that the worst case scenario will become reality. Worry uses up our mental energy and is like a treadmill that requires effort but takes us nowhere. If God watches over the sparrows and knows the number of hairs on our head, we can rest in the knowledge that He is well able to care for our situation. When we worry, it robs us of peace and places us on an endless treadmill of doubt. Push the stop button on worry and let God’s peace guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7). Don’t let worry push its way into your heart. “Your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things” (Matthew 6:32 NKJV). God is aware of our concerns, needs and desires and promises to be the Great I AM in our situation. Sometimes our hearts need reminding of just how big our God is and the greatness of His love towards us. Let your heart rest in confidence knowing that you are safe in the Father’s love. No one or nothing can take you out of that place of being in His hand (John 10:29). “He’s got the whole world in His hands”. This childhood Sunday School song tells us of the greatness of our God and gently reminds us not to worry. Have the simple faith of a child today and believe that your tomorrows are filled with God’s love and goodness. By Rebecca Watson
