On some of the forums this morning there has been angst that sellers are asking agents to discount commission - OMG! . For what its worth, here are my thoughts on this topic - my personal 2 cents worth ... The public see us all as sausages - just different flavours so it is perfectly understandable that they want to go with the cheapest - surely that is psychology 101? Dont we all shop around for the cheapest price on the exact same product? It is buyer psychology 101 - they are buying our services. If we cant differentiate ourselves from the pack, then in my mind it is presumptuous to assume that just because we have a piece of paper that says we have a qualification, that we are worth more than the discounters! Surely it is about proving our worth in the marketplace first ? - respect is not a given - and neither is our backing a seller into a corner over commission if we have not proved that we deserve this - an we an only demonstrate this with our professionalism, expertise, marketing know-how and negotiation skills! This is not a personal attack on anyone. I am just seeing things from a sellers perspective someone who is comparing apples with apples because, we may not be skilled enough to show that we are truly different from the norm!
