Note to self and any/all interested Facepeeps: Never purchase a - TopicsExpress

Note to self and any/all interested Facepeeps: Never purchase a used vehicle from a dealership without checking to see whether they are a legitimate business. I bought a used VW from GERTS AUTO SALES in the city limits of Atlanta (home office located in Norcross) on Tuesday. The car was delivered to me on Wednesday, but the salesman failed to deliver the title and left it here without a temporary tag as well. He has been dicking me around for 4 days now about the title, telling me it was shipped via FedEx. It should have been delivered by FedEx on Thursday. It wasnt. Nor was it delivered today (Friday). It took calling the DMV, DOR, SOS, Dealers Association, my insurance company, other insurance companies to inquire about obtaining a bonded title, a lawyer AND the City of Atlanta Police to get some action. Thanks to Officer Jackson, the title was finally actually been picked up by FedEx tonight, and should be delivered by 8pm on Monday. This guy continually promised to send me the tracking number, but it took the cops contacting him to get that much! If that title comes back showing liens on it, this dealer is going to jail for Theft by Deception. However, the dealer lied to the officer and told him it would arrive at home by tomorrow. According to the tracking number, it wont be here until Monday by 8pm. The lesson learned is this: Not only is it important to do your research on the car you want to purchase, but it is also important to investigate the dealer. I found out that he does not have a license to do business, but is also not registered with the Dealers Association and is not licensed as a car dealer. Hes in hot water now because I have filed a complaint with the Secretary of State, the Better Business Bureau, Dept. of Motor Vehicles, Dept. of Revenue, two police departments, and the Dealers Association. First thing Monday morning, I will be contacting the Consumer Affairs office as well. He will be paying some hefty fines and/or going to jail. He messed with the wrong customer!
