Notice from MCIPAC/MCB Camp Butler Environmental: Our office received notification that Naval Hospital personnel recently sampled Camp Kinser drinking water, and the water is not fit for drinking. The water was previously considered non-potable while a clogged water line filter caused reduced water pressure throughout the camp. Water line repairs, water line maintenance and new construction are common, and considering water non-potable during water line repairs and construction is a precautionary measure. Camp Kinser water continues to be non-potable and cannot be used for drinking, food preparation or washing dishes (unless boiled first). Maintenance personnel will continue to work on the issue by flushing water lines aboard the Camp. Once flushing has been completed, Naval Hospital Preventative Medicine Department (PMD) personnel will re-sample the drinking water. The Naval Hospital PMD will provide results not earlier than 24 hours from the time of sampling. Results of water sampling, positive or negative, will be forwarded to Camp Services by the most expeditious means for appropriate notification of affected building tenant units. All Marine Corps facilities aboard Camp Kinser were affected, excluding housing and school facilities. Please contact the environmental office at 645-5197 if you have any questions.
