Notice regarding demonstrations in Bangkok Martial law has been invoked in Thailand from 0300 hrs on 20th May, 2014 and a Peace and Order Maintaining Command (POMC) has been set up for public safety and maintenance of peace and order in the country. Protesters continue to camp around government buildings like Government house, parliament building, Royal Thai Police HQ, Interior Ministry, Defence Ministry and are centred around Ratchadamri Road, Rama 1 Road, Rama IV Road, Phaya Thai area, Henry Durrant Road and Aksa Road in Puthamanthon area. In general, Thailand, including Bangkok and its environs continue to be safe and secure for Indian and other foreign tourists. However, Indian tourists and residents in Thailand are advised to take precautions for their safety, including by avoiding the areas mentioned above, and other places of demonstrations, political gatherings, marches, etc. They are advised to regularly monitor the situation through the local media, hotels, tour operators, etc. Travellers coming from or going to the airport may factor in at least one additional hour for travel to/from the city in view of potential traffic jams.
