Nov. 11. Today I am thankful for the gift of music. For 49 years I have been blessed with the God-given gift of playing the piano. I was three years old when I first began to play. I was in church on a Sunday morning and the closing hymn was being sung. Suddenly, a light came on inside of me and when the church service was over, I walked up to the piano and began to pick out the melody of that hymn. The next thing I knew, dad and mom bought me a piano and I began to play everything that I heard. Playing the piano became a love relationship. I could express my heart and soul at a piano with 88 keys. I could communicate with the Lord without ever opening my mouth. Now, 49 years later, every time that I sit down at the piano, I can still feel the presence of the Holy Spirit flowing through my hands. I cant explain chord structure and I am poor when it comes to piano theory but when it comes to playing the praises of God, where my ability comes to an end, the power of the Holy Spirit begins. I cannot boast in my ability because the ability is not my own. It is all simply Jesus. My mother prayed for a little boy who could play the piano and the Lord granted her request. Music is to the soul what water is in the desert, an oasis of refreshing that quenches the thirst of the soul. Thank you, Lord for the gift of music and thank you for channeling it through me.
