Nov 6 - Modern country music is just a real weird deal. Seems to be focused (not all of it but most) on sitting on your tailgate, drinking beer, and looking at girls in cutoff jeans. Well, AG drives a Honda Civic, doesnt like beer, and has eyes for only one lady (and I dont think she owns any daisy dukes). So, I look back into the archives for my country tunes ranking.. Favorite Country Songs 7. Amarillo By Morning - George Strait. Not that old but a phenomenal little song. 6. Im No Stranger to the Rain - Keith Whitley. You cant really go wrong with the late great Whitley but theres something about the way he sang this one that goes right to AGs heart. 5. Feels So Right - Alabama. / Always on My Mind. Willie Nelson. Tie. My list, I do what I want. 4. Somewhere In My Broken Heart - Billy Dean. Feel it. (Dean was a vastly underrated singer, by the way.) 3. I Will Always Love You - Dolly Parton. Before Whitney blew that thing up, Dolly made this wonderful song. Just really great. 2. I Still Miss Someone/ Long Black Veil - Johnny Cash. Most folks go Folsom Prison here and I would never disagree with that. But I dig these 2. Also, Train of Love runs close to the top. 1. Im So Lonesome I could Cry - Hank Williams. Not a Hank guy so to speak but you cant listen to this song without feeling it right down to the floor.
