November 10 Song: Unforgiven Artist: Adam Crabb Music Link: youtu.be/rVyezEYdBDg I think one of the very hardest things for a Christian to do is deal with guilt because we all have sinned! You see guilt is our acknowledgement of the sin and transgressions that we have committed. You see guilt is a good thing because it convicts us and brings us to the foot of the cross of Jesus. The problem in our life with sin is that we rationalize it. We focus on the pleasure and maximize it, but then we minimize the consequences. As Christians, you see the problem we are dealing with is not guilt because Christ made atonement for all our sins on the cross. The problem we are really dealing with is shame. The bible tells us that God is faithful. One of the central messages throughout the Old Testament is that God is faithful. Christianity is built upon the birth, life, death and resurrection of Jesus, but is held together by our understanding that everything God tells us is reliable and true. We set our walk on the fact that God is trustworthy and faithful to do and complete every promise that is provided to us through his Holy Word. So here are a few bible references for your consideration when you feel ashamed of your past. 1 John 1:9 KJV If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Colossians 2:13 KJV And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; I love the message of the song today, which is we are not to live like we are unforgiven. I am sure most of you have heard the advice that if Satan tries to remind you of your past sins then just remind him of his future. I think we should remember that Satan has no power to judge us. Satan simply wants to plant seeds of doubt and to discourage us. I would encourage you when Satan comes planting seeds of doubt, and Satan will because that is his nature, then don’t even remind him of anything! Why? Our conversation needs to be with Jesus and God the father. We need to thank God for his divine power in our life and ask him to rebuke the Devil, because when we keep our eyes of Jesus, we will not hear the old Devil. I love what Simon Peter said in 2 Peter 1:3-11. Take the time to read it because it assures us that as Christians we possess divine power because we have been called by the Holy Spirit and elected by God. Peter in these verses explains how we grow as believers and the critical part is in the knowledge that is obtained through the study of God’s word. Read carefully because in 2 Peter 1:9 he is not saying we DO NOT HAVE THEM, he is saying that we fail to claim them because to are blind to the very power of God that we already possess because we have forgotten that Jesus has cleansed us of our past sins.. Verse of the Day: 2 Peter 1:8-9 8 For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
