November 17th, 1906 - As one of Foard & Stokes Hardware Company’s delivery teams was crossing the Youngs Bay bridge this morning, the singletree broke causing the horses to run away. As the animals reached the south end of the bridge, they plunged into the ditch along side the dike in place of following the road and were compelled to swim nearly a mile before they could be taken out. The wagon was not broken and neither of the horses was injured.
