November 2, 2013 . BENEFITS OF FAITH: KEEPING THE FAITH . II Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. . There are some things worth keeping. That is something that most of us have problems with, getting rid of things. I remember when I had my metallic blue with a white vinyl top 1972 Gran Torino. There were these little feet that were popular back then. So I bought twelve sets of them, half hot pink and the other half lime green. I then started gluing them to the dash of my car and on the roof into the back window and made it look like something pink and green had walked from the front to the back. At the time, I had a good friend that I had started to date. Unfortunately it was not going to work out so we decided to call it off and just be friends. She then said, In a couple of years, you will forget I even existed. I then said to her, If it is worth keeping, I keep it. For example, you see these pink and green feet? Forty years from now, I will still have them because they are worth keeping. . Paul talked about something worth keeping. He said, I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. He wanted us to understand that some things in life are worth keeping and holding on to. One of those things is our faith. Our faith is worth fighting for and our faith is worth finishing like a race. By fighting I do not just mean a physical battle, but a spiritual. Since our faith grows as we spiritually grow in Christ, we need to protect it and fight for the right to keep walking the path God the Creator placed before us. So there are some things in life worth keeping. When it comes to our relationship with God, our faith is not only worth keeping, but also worth fighting for.
