November 25- Investing in Your Eternity Verse- In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. 1 Timothy 6:19 Today we will look closer about how to handle our finances (1 Timothy 6:19). If we are to live wisely, we must invest not only in temporary moments of pleasure but also in the eternity that lies before all of us. Moments of pleasure in this life may be enjoyable, but every one of them will come to an end at some time. Paul is telling Timothy’s church to make wise investments. Most successful and influential people work very hard to see that their money is invested in safe, profitable, money-making investments. This is why they put their money into stocks, bonds, property and other money-making investments. They want to see their fortune grow. If they are wise, they will not invest in ventures that are too risky because they don’t want to see their fortunes stolen, ruined or diminished. This is the same with God; God expects you to be wise with the finances he has entrusted to you. This is evident in the parable found in Matthew 25. Like in the previous days, it is okay to enjoy it and put it in savings, but we are also to help the word of God be spread. So don’t spend all your money of your earthly existence and forget to lay up a good foundation for eternity. Create a nice portfolio in Heaven! Questions- 1. Are you sowing for eternity, or are you investing only for the dividends you can reap in this life right now? 2. What can you do to make sure you are not spending all your money on your present pleasures, forgetting to lay up a good foundation for the eternity that lies in your future? When you evaluate what you sow into the Kingdom of God, can you conclude that you are serious about investing into eternity? 3. What changes do you need to make in your spending and investing habits in order to ensure that you will reap strong eternal dividends when you pass into eternity? Why don’t you make a list of the ministries and organizations where you sow your financial seed so you can reevaluate your giving?
