November 30,2014 First Sunday of Advent (Cycle B) Lord, in this holy season of Advent, help us to stay vigilant and attentive to Your inspirations and remain spiritually awake while preparing our hearts for Your coming. Grant us a spirit of active vigilance in prayer that is fostered by a loving expectation and a profound awareness of Your holy presence in our midst. Free me from complacency, from the grip of sin and worldliness, and from attachments to things that will pass away. Fill us with joyful anticipation for Your coming so that we may not be distracted by the frenzied preparations of Christmas shopping and decorating, which characterizes the holiday season. May You fill us with Your Advent message of hope that we may never lose sight of the goal of heaven as You give us fresh joy and zeal to live each day for Your kingdom. Help me to always be ready in every moment of my life when You decide to call me back into Your presence. Amen Based on Today’s Gospel: Mark 13:33-37
