November Post Day 13 Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Month (11/13/2014) Chemo Cravings that Should be Overlooked but Usually Aren’t 1.Broiled Grapefruit Or cold grapefruit, for that matter, although there is a world of difference between hot and cold fruit-taste-wise, but my taste buds have been failing me of late. Something about citrus appeals to me now. Broil it with brown sugar until hot and juicy—not so much. Note to self: Cold things are better. Stick with ginger ale for your citrus needs. 2.Butter Pecan Ice Cream and Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Sodas Ever since I started chemo again, I have been craving ice cream after my chemo treatments. Rich, thick butter pecan. Sometimes, I crave an old-fashioned chocolate soda. Note to self: Cold things aren’t necessarily better. Stick to ginger ale for your ice cream needs…Ooh, a Boston Cooler maybe, aah, maybe not. 3.Cheese Burger Pie I had all the ingredients. The recipe was actually from my 8th grade home economics cooking class. I hadn’t been eating meat and thought this was a nice way to get a little protein. Note to self: What you need and what works for your fragile appetite don’t always mesh. Maybe cold is better. Try ginger ale for your protein needs. 4.Indian Food-Vegetable Curry I have been craving Indian food! Curries are almost a comfort food for me (I am not sure why, I never grew up with curries). C and I had a wonderful night out eating Vegetable Curry at a local Indian restaurant. What was I thinking!?! Curry!?! Note to self: Just say no to curries. Cold things are better. Try ginger ale for all your Indian Food Cravings! Kt
