November Show Schedule: We have another big craft show that we’ll be attending this November. Dover OSC Craft & Holiday Show Sponsored by the Dover Officers’ Spouses’ Club Saturday Nov 1, 2014 from 9am – 4pm Delaware State Fairgrounds (Next to Harrington’s Casino) This is our first time attending this one but as a USAF veteran, I’m excited about attending this particular craft show! The show is sponsored by the Dover OSC and will be held on the Delaware State Fairgrounds, which is right next door to the Harrington Casino. The Dover OSC is comprised of spouses of Active Duty, Reserve, Guard, and Retired military. They’ve been running this show as a fund raiser for the last 31 years and it’s billed as the largest single day craft show on the East Coast, with an estimated attendance of 7,500 visitors. This one is a high quality Juried show, which means that we had to submit an application, provide pictures of our products and previous shows we attended, and even had to provide them with invoices & receipts for raw materials used in making our products to prove that we handcraft all of our products. Once they received all that, a committee of Jurors reviewed all our material and voted to have us admitted to their show! It’s a lot more work for a vendor to get accepted into a Juried Craft Show but it’s well worth it. This insures that all vendors are indeed crafters selling personally handcrafted items and aren’t just selling flea market type stuff or a dealer selling items that they haven’t made personally. We’ve attended a lot of non-juried craft shows in the past few years where it was obvious that some of the vendors were just dealers, selling products that they didn’t personally make. At one show, we even saw a vendor with tables spanning about 30 feet that was selling nuts, bolts and tools, lol. In addition to approximately 160 craft booths, there’s also a Food Court and Free parking & shuttle service to the show.
