Once weve solved that problem, Ozere will take us out with some more music. Therell be snacks, plenty of time to mingle, and a ridiculous chocoloate-orange mousse cake, so come ready for a delicious night all around! 7PM Sunday November 16 - Mark your calendar Michaels Loft #501 in The Dundas West Arts Building 2466 Dundas Street West (5 min. walk north from Dundas West Station). Ozere began in April 2012, as a vehicle to try out violinist Jessica Deutsch’s compositions. She originally wanted to write fiddle and folk tunes for a string quartet, but chose on the unique instrumentation of violin, cello, mandolin and upright bass. Those instruments gave the band more textures and a rootsy sound. Jessica then asked Emily Rockarts, a fellow student at Toronto’s Humber College, to come and sing a few songs with them at their first show, and vocals were added to the mix. Ozere takes equal inspiration from chamber groups and folk bands. It’s what happens when you bring together musicians who play bluegrass, Celtic, jazz, Klezmer, classical and more. Drawing comparisons to the Goat Rodeo Sessions and Tin Hat Trio, Ozere has garnered a decent following in their short time on Earth! They released their debut EP, “Three Generations”, in April 2013, and are planning a full-length album in 2015 with Juno Award-winning producer David Travers-Smith (The Wailin’ Jennys, Jayme Stone). Jessica Deutsch – Violin, Vocals Adrian Gross – Mandolin Lydia Munchinsky – Cello, Vocals Sam McLellan – Bass Emily Rockarts – Lead Vocals The Piano Salon was started by Marcel Aucoin and Michael Holt in 2009, using music to help people connect intimately with artists, each other, and inspiring topics of conversation. In 2014, we put on Torontos First Annual Festival of House Culture, a weekend of arts, conversation, workshops, and community-building, all in peoples homes. To keep abreast of our monthly series, email pianotroubadour@gmail. And let us know if youd like to host a Salon, or suggest an artist, topic, or activity.
