Now for some slightly more composed, thought-out thanks: (EMO ALERT) Thank you Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, you insane people. In an industry where an actor not making eye-contact with another turns into Cold war between X and Y, you said yes to an insult comedy show and then didnt censor us, and let us say some pretty horrific shit :D I cant think of a lot of people whod have the stones, sense of cool, and sense of security to do that. You really really set the bar high as roastees. Thank you Karan Johar. I dont even know where to begin. Everything you read/hear about the way Bollywood works, you tell yourself I cant go to one of the most powerful people in the industry with an insult comedy format thatll see him take some pretty severe knocks. Ill get kicked down a stairwell if I do that. Turns out, you can. So thanks for saying yes, Karan Johar because honestly if youd said no, we REALLY had no Plan B. You totally brought the thunder, and a better roastmaster I cannot imagine. All three of you, thank you for taking a ridiculous amount of ownership of the event, scratching your heads over your sets, and putting thought, care and rehearsal effort into them. Its always great when you do an event and the people on it get as into it as you are. Thats when the fun really begins Thank you to my team of bwois, AIB, Tanmay Bhat Ashish Shakya Gursimranjeet Khamba Abish Mathew Jesus Christ guys. Last night was the second-best thing thats happened to me all year. The best is this ridiculous journey weve taken over the last twelve months. The YouTube channel, The Royal Turds, Weekender, and this. For every day of fighting and stress and madness and high drama, theres been ten of absolute joy. Writing and creating something is one of the most draining, exhausting, soul-breaking things you can do sometimes, and all that keeps you sane is the people in the trenches with you. And never a finer bunch existed. I love you bastards Aditi Mittal, thank you for bringing a different perspective to our writing on the Knockout, and for being ridiculously cool about stuff (hey, a lot of shit gets said when youre writing a roast okay?) Rajeev Masand, I give you FIVE stars, at absolutely no charge. Raghu Ram. %$^$%&%^*&(^&(^&#$$#!%%& (Thats Roadies for I love you, thank you for nailing that shit last night!) Thank you to every single person thats ever bought a ticket, or watched a video, or sent an email or a message saying constructive things. We do what we do because the idea is to get stuff out to like-minded people, and your response is insanely gratifying (and also pays my rent, so extra thanks for that) Thank you Shaheen Bhatt for being my midnight joke sounding-board, and person I can vent to. Love and Le15 for life for you. Thank you Joel Pereira and Kavita Rajwade and Priyo Patra and Tushar Abhichandani and every friend whose house I showed up at at midnight saying I need a f**king drink. With friends like you, I DO need enemies, otherwise Ill never know how terrible the world is, because you never let me. Thank you to Kumudini Kakad Joshi Renuka Modi Bimal Modi and Aayush. Im sorry I havent been around much, its been an insane year. But youre the greatest. The absolute greatest. I love you guys sky much. Dad, I wish I could tell you about yesterday. I love you, and miss you more today than ever. And last, but absolutely not the least, a huge huge huge thank you to the team at OML, Ajay, Vijay, Shreyas, Deepti, Karan, everyone. Every time youve seen us get comfortable with something, youve pushed us farrrrrrrr outside our comfort zone, and said We trust you, you can do this. And well, what a year its been right? So yeah, thanks guys. Emo rant over. Now Im going back to bed.
