Now in Kankakee: I think it is important that something upsetting, like what happened at City Tavern, doesnt make us want to give up on making things great here and go into a panic mode. I hate violence with a passion ... and my heart breaks that it happens in our city and for the people it happens to. It makes me sick. It makes me wish I were everywhere in Kankakee preventing any anger from boiling over. At the same time Kankakee is who many of us are ... We cant separate from it. We have to know that if we give up on making Kankakee great our entire area loses. It really does lose. Nobody wants to live anywhere near a place that has been given up on. I refuse to do that ... And it is amazing to see how many are with us in this effort. Lets not let Kankakee be defined by the actions of a few ... When the ambitions of so many are full of excitement and perseverance.
