Now offering November Welcome Baby Workshops. Pregnancy, Birth and Parenting Workshops Childbirth is a powerful and transforming event in women’s lives. Wherever and however you give birth, it is wise to be prepared. There are always choices to make, skills to develop and remember, knowledge to obtain, not just for yourself but for the new life you are bringing into the world to nurture. And there are so many questions to ask! What do I do if the birth is difficult? What can my partner do to help? How will I know how to breastfeed? What if I want to birth naturally at the hospital? Women need a birth environment where they feel safe, with caregivers and support people who trust their ability to birth naturally. With this in place, women can experience the immense challenges and rewards of childbirth. Knowledge of the way your body works to support you in labour through antenatal education decreases the risks of medical intervention. At Birth and Beyond we promote safe and satisfying birth experiences and supported confident parenting. ‘I feel that now I have the knowledge and power to have a natural birth!’ - 2013 Welcome Baby Workshop participant and Birth and Beyond member. The Welcome Baby Workshops are an interactive series of information sessions which give practical self-help strategies for managing an active labour and birth and discuss the why’s and how’s of breastfeeding. The workshops encourage participation; promote informed choice and partner attendance, recognising that every pregnancy and birth is unique. Run over 3 sessions, in an informal and friendly setting, educators facilitate a lively experience which helps bond couples and prepare them for their parenting journey ahead. Midwives, childbirth educators and breastfeeding counsellors give an opportunity for expecting parents to ask questions, get informed and feel confident.
