Now that life has returned to moderately normal, some things Im thankful for in past month: - Reconnecting at wonderful biennial presby family reunion called General Assembly, & blessed to work in the awesome Racial Ethnic/Womens Ministry division w fab colleagues. - Seeing that despite our many troubles, the denominational church can do something daring w global impact like pass divestment re Israel/Palestine. Proud of you, PCUSA! - Surprised by the enthusiastic response to my call to reject American imperialism, to decolonize our bodies, & to follow Jesus radically, at The Summit by Sojourners, the Natl African American Missions Conf, & Wild Goose Festival. - Despite another trip, to take Church of All Nations folks to Pine Ridge Indian Reservation was like taking 16 angels to heaven. Ive been to this storied rez many times, to powwows, but never invited to sweat, testify, pray & heal in the sacred inipi & passing of the pipe - an honor that exceeds my degrees & credentials. - Grateful for my relatives Jim Bear Jacobs & Robert A. Klanderud who were pastors to our team, sharing their native ways & hearts w us, leading us deeper into true humanity. This at Pine Ridge, a place of both indescribable beauty & tragedy, & some of the most beautiful people anywhere. - Thank you, God - I am the luckiest pastor in the world.
