Now that most of the owners (the ones at the summer meeting) of the RTFFL know my big secret, I am free to let it loose on Facebook. As most of you know, I am a lifelong fan of all sports Philadelphia. It all started with Bobby Clarke and the Broad Street Bullies in the 70s. Watching 2 Stanley Cup championships when I was 7 and 8 years old just made me love them even more. Growing up in northern Alberta, I was able to see my first Flyers game in Edmonton as a teenager. In fact, the first Flyers game I saw was a Stanley Cup final game with Pelle Lindbergh in net (RIP). (Still have his autograph from that night). Of course, if you loved Bobby Clarke, then you had to love Pete Rose as well. Tug McGraw and the Philadelphia Phillies in 1980 gave me another reason to cheer like crazy. That year ALL the Philly teams made their respective Championship game. Thank you Dr. J and Ron Jaworski. It wasnt until 2011 I got to see by beloved Phillies live in person. A quick trip over Fathers Day weekend to Seattle brought me to tears when I saw the 2008 World Series Champions. Howard, Rollins, Utley, Chooch, they were all there. Hell, i even met Kyle Kendrick at Pikes Market!! A half year later, and I made the trip of all trips. The Winter Classic IN Philadelphia. (Thanks Corey Collingwood and Iona Christie Henitiuk for making it possible). I dont think I stopped smiling the entire time I was there. It didnt matter the Flyers lost (well, OK, it did a little), I got to see MY team IN Philly AT Citizens Bank Park. How can I top that? Well friends, in November, I will try. Thanks to the generosity of my good friend Jason Enright, I will be travelling to Houston, Texas to see the best team in the NFL, the Philadelphia Eagles as they take on the Texans. 34 years after a heartbreaking loss to the Raiders in the Super Bowl, and 19 years as a commissioner in the Rusty Truck Fantasy Football League, I will finally be attending my very first ever NFL game, and I couldnt be more excited. Jason very graciously purchased my ticket for the game, and Air Miles graciously paid for my flight to Houston. Look out Green Legion, this crazy Canadian has been waiting a long time for this day, and I AM PUMPED!! FLY EAGLES FLY!!!!!
