Now that the holidays are over, my best memories of those times - TopicsExpress

Now that the holidays are over, my best memories of those times are still of Brooklyn in the 60s. Front windows were decorated with REAL Christmas lights (you know, those fat bulbs in all the primary colors). Every Catholic home had a nativity scene in the front yard (with no fear of someone stealing the porcelain Jesus), and the homes of my Jewish friends had beautiful menorahs and taught me how to play with a dreidel and dance the hora. My face would freeze on Christmas night as we walked the two blocks on Clarendon Road from our house to my grandparents, for a delicious Christmas dinner. Every relative from the tri-state area would gather there that evening to celebrate the holiday. If I could have any wish come true, it would be to go back to Christmas night 1969. To see my grandparents again, alive and healthy, all my aunts and uncles whove since passed, my cousin Lisa who was killed in a car accident in 1989...just to appreciate everything Id taken for granted and assumed would always be there. Yes...my best holiday memories are of Brooklyn in the 60s. I sure do miss them.
