Now that we have filed for an election with just over 60% signed cards Ive seen people stepping from the shadows into the light. Thank you everyone for putting your face on this campaign. As Ive been calling (something that is waaaaay out of my comfort zone) many people have asked me why the IAM isnt more visible? Let me give you how I feel about this. Our campaign with the IAM is a grass roots campaign started by a small group of FAs. The IAM gave them a challenge and told them if they could get so many cards signed in a defined period of time the IAM would back Delta flight attendants in an organizing campaign. The group not only met the challenge, but did so in record time with more than the number of cards the IAM requested. TWU did not want us and, apparently, Delta FAs didnt want AFA. This is not the IAMs campaign. Rather, the IAM is supporting us with OUR campaign. We, Delta Flight Attendants, are the face of this campaign. The IAM is the money and clout behind this campaign. It behoves each and every flight attendant who wants Union representation to be the visible campaign. There is so much power in numbers. The higher percentage of YES votes we get the greater our negotiating power. Please remember that. Every yes vote is needed. Please join us at meetings, Road Shows, Lounge visibility and the booth we will have in Terminal 2 starting Feb. 1st. You are the face of this campaign. Please be visible with bag tags, pins, pens, sitting visibility, educating those who are undecided, whatever you can do. You all know I was refired (a compound word the no way FAs have given my termination/retirement). Nonetheless, I am busy taking welding classes, making stained glass windows, running our home-zoo and learning to play the banjo among other things. I know youre busy too, but when we negotiate it is our determined goal to raise flight pay so you wont have to work such high hours and sleep most of the time when your home. We will negotiate retirement issues, A day issues, work rules, etc. Please, be the face of this campaign. Thank you. Alan Winters
