Now this here is why people cant get along! Cops arebuying this shirt because they are completely insensitive to the communities they serve. The whole message behind shirts like this isnt Be law abiding its really We can take your breath away! i.e. we can us our police force to kill you if you dont do what we say. What these police dont get is that they are supposed to be public servants and they cannot treat the entire populace as subjects to be controlled. Particularly, when they are cops that may be harboring racist attitudes! The entire reason for civilian oversight is so that the police and prosecutors cannot longer shield bad actors in order to continue a culture of control over the populace. Our civilian leaders must instill a culture of service and accountability back into the police force.
