Now unemployed, I am living through the generosity of true friends and my caring family, of course A friend in need is a friend indeed. They extend unsolicited help and moral support. It is this genuine friendship that keeps my strength and faith in the goodness of men amidst the misfortune caused by the betrayal of daily work acquaintances. My faith in grievance machinery and appeal commission for aggrieved employees may have been justifiably diminished yet I still cling desperately to my old conviction that men are basically good at heart. To live now is to suffer and the only solution is to suffer with courage. My only consolation is the knowledge that success and suffering go together. If I am suffering now, I can only expect success later. Give thanks in everything, the Bible wisely advises.
