Now we’re up to our Long Distance Dedication. We have a letter - TopicsExpress

Now we’re up to our Long Distance Dedication. We have a letter that was read on the air by Casey, on the weekend of June 22nd 1985. It comes to us from a woman who has some compassionate words for someone very close to her. Here’s what she writes: Dear Casey, My Long Distance Dedication goes out to my sister. She’s 15-years-old and a very troubled young lady. You see, we had a rough childhood. Our father was abusive to us, and to our mother. My sister Debbie has been an angry child all of her life and because she was striking out against the world, she was kicked out of school, treated in a Mental Health Hospital and returned home. Our mother could no longer handle her, so I adopted my sister to give it one more try. The closer we got, the harder she pushed away. This hurt me, but I hung in trying to help. I gave it my all, but nothing could reach her. Just recently, I had a Daughter of my own out of wedlock, which only made my sister more resentful. I could no longer handle the situation. So I did the hardest thing I ever had to do in my life, turn her over to the court who placed her back in the hospital. She said she hated me, I thought my heart would break in a million pieces. We used to be so close. I did what I felt was best, because I love her and all we have is each other. Could you please play “You’ve Got a Friend” so she’ll know she’s not alone and I do love her very much. Thank you and may God bless and help all the children who feel no one cares. Dana Dana, here’s your Long Distance Dedication. youtube/watch?v=0XGX98OW4Rc
