Now you see it...... This 14 year old cat recently had to have radical surgery to remove her entire right ear due to cancer. These before and after pictures show the tumour prior to surgery and after removal of the stitches. The tumour was causing a huge swelling affecting the right side of the head. Malignant tumours often become infected and that is why the tumour looks like horrible Swiss cheese with all the holes. While we had to remove almost the entire ear, we were able to preserve the horizontal ear canal (shown by the arrow) so she can still hear on this side of her head. The owners say she was a much happier cat almost immediately after surgery. Her face is dirty in the after pictures because she had been wearing an Elizabethan collar.
