Nurse R would like our thoughts on uniforms and professionalism during the Xmas season: I am concerned about the morale of staff in our ED, every year the staff have been permitted to wear Christmas scrub tops or t shirts from 1 Dec. This year they have been told that it does not portray professionalism. The ED can be demoralising and rough without taking one sliver of happiness away, the executive have gone mad! Add to the personal financial loss from purchasing the scrub tops, and this does not make for happy workers. Is there a way to address this, other than surveying the patients and their families? As a side note this is not the first time, the staff have had to repurchase scrubs in a single colour, after several years of wearing multiple colours. Thank you for your assistance.
