Nursery schools in Delhi are privately run, as public school education is guaranteed only for children ages 6 and older. Competition to get into the best nursery schools is fierce, as Delhi’s parents, like their counterparts all over the world, try to give their children every possible advantage in a competitive, globalized playing field. They’re willing to pay up to 15,000 rupees, or $250, a month for schools in the posh neighborhoods of south Delhi.
