Nyeri governor has flown to the US with his trade executive to conduct due diligence on the Mzungu who offered to buy Nyeri coffee after the agricultural committee voiced concern. My take; 1.I regrett he has taken the farmer so far down the road with doubtfull trade plans. 2.This paints the governor as a poor planner.Coffee needs very carefull planning. 3.Suppose for whatever reason the Mzungu is found not fitting the bill,will the governor stay on in the US looking for somebody else,at Nyeri taxpayers expense when we know he is not an exporter but a brick-and-mortar landlord? 4.This whistle-go-whistle-stop management of critical county affairs is getting rather tiring.Why not contract proffessional marketers of coffee (poached from millers and marketers) to do this job? There are some guys calling themselves shadow cabinet--led by one Kamau Gatwechi from Kangema (first cousin of a Muranga top politician)--what are they doing about these matters?
