O LORD, HELP ME TO ALLOW MYSELF TO BE WRONGED/CHEATED - TopicsExpress

O LORD, HELP ME TO ALLOW MYSELF TO BE WRONGED/CHEATED TODAY 1Corinthians 6:1-7. There is a trivial matter that is causing a dispute between you and your friend. You are about going to court, the Lord says, you should resolve the issue using the principle in Matthew 18:15-16. We need to add love to our relationship even if we say it is just a business relationship. Proverbs 10:12 says Hatred stirs up strife, but love covers a multitude of sins. We must learn in love to forgive and pass by many slights, annoyance and offenses. Some believers believe that the only way to resolve any financial issue they have with their neighbors is to go to court. We end up being enemies. The winner will be happy while the loser will be furious and angry. We must realize that in business we must not always win. It is better to resolve conflicts peacefully than go to court. The courts too have discovered that issues can be resolved without the courts these days, that is why the judges sometimes suggest settling issues outside the court. The courts have also provided for alternatives dispute resolutions, where arbitrators assist in settling parties that have dispute. Paul asked believers in 1 Corinthians 6:1-7 When one of you has a dispute with another believer, how dare you file a lawsuit and ask a secular court to decide the matter instead of taking it to the other believers. Dont you realize that someday, we believers will judge the world? Cant you decide even these little things among yourselves? Dont you realize that we will judge angels? So you should surely be able to resolve ordinary dispute in this life. If you have a legal dispute about such matters, why go to outside judges who are not respected by the church? I am saying this to shame you! Isnt there anyone in the church who is wise enough to decide these issues? But instead, one believer sues another right in front of unbelievers! Even to have such a lawsuit with another is a defeat for you. Why not just accept the injustice and leave it at that? Why not let yourselves be cheated? Instead, you yourselves are the ones who do wrong and cheat even your fellow believers. The issue here is that we should be able to resolve the issues we have with our business partners without going to court. Sometimes, we should allow ourselves to be cheated. This is not a bad prayer at all. We must not win at all times. If it is possible , allow your neighbor to go with the money that is the issue. If you go to court, you will loose your peace and give yourselves unnecessary trouble. It is not worth it. We need to demonstrate love as believers and we ought to settle arguments and disputes without going to court.Going to court should be the last resort. According to Matthew 18:15-17, we should go privately to neighbors first if we have a dispute. If he does not listen, we should take two or three witnesses, if he refuses to settle with you, report to the Church. If he refuses to listen to the church we can then decide to either forgive or take legal actions. Prayer Point Pray for the grace to forgive as Jesus taught us in Matthew 6:14-15.
