OAU-Jonathan Saga:Junk Journalism. One fool speculates. A few others lacking Objectivity responds and millions believe lies. It is disastrous what a few fool can do It is so alarming that our media has been bastardized with falsehood, brown envelope Journalism likewise Social Media confusionist as 2015 General election beckons. It was a mixed reaction that greeted the coming of the Presidency to the acclaimed Most beautiful campus in Africa. The environment was tensed; some came to see the President, NANs were in a state of felicity, rolling drums with thunderous roar while some ever tatan OAU students came to register their grievance with the state of things in our dear country. It is however so alarming that our media has let subjectivity dictate the tone of their report, Our media has let themselves to be used to peddle falsehood and revile. Our President was booed but was he stoned? I shake my head in despair that no student has authoritatively stated that the President was stoned...why is our media making a mole out of the dust? I critically analysed the Hassan Soweto narrative, an Education Right activist and he also doesnt have a clarity on the stoning scene...then who is fooling who? I have loop-holed his narration and I feel why was it at that critical point when they were booing the President/ the stakes were high he(Soweto) suddenly lost concentration and also didnt see the stoning? Soweto must be in a reverie! I must not fail to balance this with the release of the Grand Commander of all Aluta, the President of the Union OAU, the person of Ibikunle Isaac Motunrayo who stated that On his way out, the President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan stepped out to the cheers of the students, receiving a lot of applause from the entirety of Great Ife students and commuters having heard that he had committed himself on the increment. Meanwhile, just as the Union President conveyed to His Excellency, we again implore the President to stick to his promise, as a man of honour and integrity, as Great Ife students are in great anticipation and expectancy. The cheers you received today at the time you were leaving were premised on the fact that we believed you will address the increment immediately. Mr President, the reversal of increased fees should also be extended to all Federal Universities and pump funds into education in the interest of the country he said. Also Punch Newspaper reporter, Soddick Oyeleke has lifted the lid on GEJs visit to OAU stating that all media that reported that OAU students shouted Ole-Thief on Jonathan lied. At no point did that happen, both GEJ and Ooni of Ife were spared. I am not sober for the presidency but for the future of Journalism where lies on social medias are been peddled by our Media(Print and Broadcast) without accuracy. I will flashback our mind to the days of the struggle against increment of fee when the Tatan Great Ife faced Gun wielding touts in 2nd Artillery Camo. The rate at which falsified stories of soldiers shooting students to get media attention was exaggerated cannot be overlooked and the media fell head-diving for those tales disseminating such to our panicking fathers and Mothers when actually we knew the real position of things. However, as Babatunde Fashola has stated,It is a great coincidence but it is also a sign that the giant is beginning to fall”. The administration of I had no shoes has lost flavour amongst the Nigeria students no doubt unlike the politically inclined NANs claims of massive support of Nigerian students for a President who has been so deaf to cries of Rape of our hope which is Education. It must be noted that a Nation can never be greater than the state of its educational sector, our educational system has been bastardised and commercialised making it far from the grassroot! Daily our brothers and sisters are being massacre yet the priorities of the Presidency and PDP is mocking the rule of law and hunting political Opponents. This is a sign of what to expect from a government that has offered nothing to we students and the nation in General. I solemnize with the families of the slained Jos2, Onslaught in Kano, the wounded and homeless. Our Vote is our ticket to Freedom and Liberation, God save Nigeria!!!
