“OBN has received several calls from concerned citizens about possible Human Trafficking involving a group of young students in Oklahoma going door-to-door this summer selling educational materials for a company called Southwestern Advantage. OBN has investigated these concerns, spoken with the students and Southwestern Advantage executives. OBN has found no evidence of Human Trafficking or forced labor of any kind involving this company. The following statement was provided to OBN by Southwestern Advantage: “European college students are in Oklahoma communities selling educational children’s books. They are college interns with Southwestern Advantage, a Nashville-based publisher. Southwestern Advantage is an accredited member of the Better Business Bureau and maintains an A+ rating. The summer sales program for college students was established in 1868 and has students from over 300 colleges and universities who participate. Learn more about the European college students in your neighborhood at: southwesternadvantage/#representative For more information please visit the Southwestern Advantage website or call them directly at 1-888-602-7867. Thank you.” Students representing this company should have several forms of identification from Southwestern Advantage. OBN appreciates the desire of concerned Oklahomans to protect victims of Human Trafficking, and OBN encourages the public to contact our agency if they suspect any type of Human Trafficking activity in our state. Each tip will be fully investigated by the OBN Human Trafficking division."
