OCCLUSION TRAINING Occlusion Training, or BFR (Blood Flow Restriction) has shown to be very beneficial for muscle growth. Research demonstrates that BFR provides the following effects: -Increased interaction of muscle building hormones at the receptor level, initiating growth response. -Preferential activation of Fast-Twitch fibers - Cell Swelling/Hyperemia/Enlargement of muscle cells & increased uptake & utilization of nutrients. Ideally, the wraps (or tourniquets) should be restricting venous return, but NOT arterial flow. Therefore, wrap at about 70% of maximum tightness. It is a great finishing technique, and much lighter weight than normal will be utilized. A wonderful protocol to follow would be to perform 4 sets with 30 seconds rest between: 30reps for the first set, then 15 reps for the following three sets. Lets get after it everybody!
