OCT. 12. 2014 First Children’s Finance – MI is seeking a Business Development Specialist. Purpose: The Business Development Specialist provides business and financial planning, consultation, training, and support to ECE providers; promotes FCF and its programs and services; supports fund development activities; and connects to a diversity of FCF stakeholders, partners and constituents. The Business Development Specialist works closely with the Michigan Regional Director, along with other FCF Corporate staff to promote and insure the effectiveness of FCF’s core programs in Michigan, including: (1) business and management planning, training, and technical assistance with child care providers; (2) Loan Fund; and (3) Growth Fund. Responsibilities: Work with the FCF MI State Director to develop, promote and implement programs, services and resources to support the mission of FCF. Provide child care business and financial training and consulting/technical assistance to strengthen ECE programs and providers. Cultivate relationships with private, public, child care and community stakeholders, leaders and funders. Work with the FCF CEO and MI State Director to advance child-care policy on a national and statewide level. Assist with resource development activities including grant writing, contract development, and program development and report writing. Plan, manage, and monitor projects. Input, manage and analyze data. Perform other duties as assigned. Experience: Consulting/technical assistance Training/public speaking Working with diverse populations in a community or business setting Working with small businesses, preferably in the nonprofit sector Experience working with or for early education or child care Experience writing reports or proposals Resource development/fundraising is a plus Communications or public relations is a plus Private sector engagement and partnership is a plus Skills: Ability to provide business and financial consultation, training and organization development Ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements and develop and manage budgets Ability to think strategically, plan for a community or organization, and implement plans on the ground Ability to promote a positive image of FCF and position FCF as a key resource in the field of early care and education Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively with a diversity of FCF staff, customers, partners and stakeholders Excellent written and oral communications skills Ability to work with minimum supervision, yet be a part of a team Personal Attributes - This position requires an individual who is: Creative, fun, and collaborative; A team player, partner, and networker; Energetic, enthusiastic, with a can-do attitude; A systems thinker that is able to maintain a big-picture focus while attending to detail; Open to learning, accepting and providing positive and constructive feedback; Organized, and a self-starter, able to prioritize activities while working on several projects; and A strategic thinker and planner as well as an effective implementer.
