OCT 15-This Day in Entertainment & Music History: 1955-A mostly unknown Elvis Presley traveled to Lubbock, TX to do a show called the Big D Jamboree. His opening act was a pair of local musicians known as Buddy and Bob. As luck would have it, a Nashville talent scout was in the audience and it wasnt long before Buddy would soon become famous with his next band, Buddy Holly & Crickets...Whatever happened to Bob????? 1965...Jimi Hendrix signed his first recording contract. The deal called for Hendrix to receive $1.00 plus a 1% royalty for every album sold...1971-Former teen idol Rick Nelson performed at an oldies show at Madison Square Garden, but he was booed by the audience when he decided to try out some new material. This unhappy experience would prompt Nelson to write a song about the event.
