OFFICE OF THE VICE PRESIDENT PRESS STATEMENT 10 SEPTEMBERT 2014 REFERENCE: OVP MEDIA STATEMENT OF THE VICE PRESIDENTIAL SPOKESMAN FOR POLITICAL AFFAIRS ON THE RECENT STATEMENT OF SENATOR ALAN CAYETANO Allow me to respond to the latest statement from Senator Alan Cayetano, whose anti-Binay bias is not only well-known by now, but also alarming in view of the fact that the Senate inquiry he is running should be impartial and in aid of legislation, not personal ambition. First, the Vice President has zero tolerance for corruption in public service, as witnessed by his own legally unblemished record. The reform programs he instituted in Makati are those that have also brought the local economy forward without leaving anyone behind. This is how he plans to enhance and build upon the legacy of the President should the voters select him in 2016. Second, we wish to remind Senator Cayetano that, so far, nothing but hearsay and conjecture has come out of these hearings, up to and including the senators latest statement. If anyone has been implicated by the Vice Presidents political enemies turned alleged witnesses, it is they themselves who admitted to participating and benefiting from questionable transactions. It is they who should be further investigated and held to account, not the Vice President. 30
