Longtime restaurateur and Executive Chef James Clary of Springfield, Missouri has been making soufflés in his restaurants from scratch for the last 25 years. Now he’s using that experience to turn the culinary world on its head. Soufflés are hard to make, says Clary. It takes about an hour to make the batter from scratch and thats why you dont see soufflés served at many restaurants or being made in home kitchens. I began to wonder if there was an easier way to make a soufflé. I shared my idea with a leading food ingredients company and after years of trial and error we hit the mother lode, merging flavor and simplicity - creating the worlds first instant chocolate soufflé mix. Clary took his big idea to longtime marketer Scott Opfer, whose direct marketing and production firm Opfer Communications, Inc., launches products around the world. We review hundreds of products each year and see a lot of bad ideas, but this isnt one of them, says Opfer. With one taste we were sold and based on the response weve received thus far from distributors, retailers and consumers, we may have the new magic bullet of baking. Together Opfer and Clary have created Gourmet Flavors Group, LLC. They have formulated the product under the brand name Gourmet Soufflé and its believed to be the world’s first and only INSTANT chocolate soufflé mix that you literally mix with water, bake, and eat. Now the process is so simple its like ‘Souffles for Dummies’ and the flavor will blow your mind says Clary. Food distributors agree. We didnt believe it until we saw it with our own eyes says Fred Dallas, Regional VP of Performance Food Group/Roma Foods. With the first demonstration and taste of the product we were all in adds Dallas. Gourmet Soufflé was unveiled at the National Restaurant show in April and will make its debut on the QVC shopping network on Wednesday November 13th in the 3-4 pm (CST) time slot. QVC reaches some 195 million homes worldwide and Gourmet Soufflé will be presented by on-air by veteran TV pitchman Chef Tony Notaro.
