Message from the CEO: We have recently filed our cost of service application with our regulator, the BC Ferries Commissioner. The Commissioner is seeking public input on this application: bcferrycommission/. As the regulator, the Commissioner has the responsibility to balance the needs of the ferry operator (BC Ferries) with the needs of taxpayers and ferry users. As part of this process, which will ultimately determine our fares beginning April 1, 2016, the Commissioner will review our cost structure, as well as our capital and efficiency plans. As part of his review, we expect the Commissioner will, among other things, analyze BC Ferries Vacations business, and review our administrative and overhead costs, which include compensation, and compare our compensation to Washington State Ferries. He will publish his preliminary findings by March 31, 2015, and his final findings by September 30, 2015, as required by law. As the Commissioner is the only independent party in the process, I think it is in our collective best interest to wait for the outcome of his review before BC Ferries comments further. In the meantime, BC Ferries will continue to work to deliver a safe, efficient and reliable service to the thousands of customers who use our service everyday. Mike Corrigan
