OH MY..... A high-wind watch has been upgraded to a high-wind warning, in effect from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday for the south Washington and north and central Oregon coasts. In addition, a high-wind watch is in effect from Sunday afternoon through Sunday evening for the same region. The National Weather Service in Portland advises that on Saturday and Saturday evening we should expect southerly sustained winds of 30 to 40 mph, with gusts to 60 to 70 mph near beaches and headlands and 50 to 60 mph in coastal communities. On Sunday afternoon and evening, southerly sustained winds of 35 to 45 mph are possible, with gusts to 70 to 80 mph near beaches and headlands and 55 to 65 mph in coastal communities. On Saturday, winds will increase in the morning, then peak in the afternoon and evening. Winds on the north coastal areas will decrease by around 8 p.m. and on the central Oregon coast by around 10 p.m. On Sunday, winds are expected to increase in the afternoon and end before 11 p.m., with peak winds between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Impacted locations include: Lincoln City, Newport, Cape Foulweather, Yachats, Florence, Astoria, Cannon Beach, Tillamook, Netarts, Pacific City, Raymond, Long Beach, Cape Disappointment.
