See you soonest...BeTing, Tanya, LouJane Marie, Zeny and Macy. JUAN DE LA CRUZ.... Spare me thine ears dreamful youth! Allow me to bare the sanest thoughts of my mind, the humblest gestures of my limbs and the purest emotions of my heart. May the brightest light of wisdom from beyond guide these words so they may reflect actions and at least change a single soul, inspire a single life and cure a million mistakes. We are born in a world searching for heroes, miracles, technological innovations and amazing discoveries beyond our wildest imaginations. This world lives and breaths in a much different rhythm as it did centuries ago. From radio to television, from newspapers to the lips of the folks, there is chaos, price hikes, rebels, crimes and corruption and fiscal matters. Indeed, our country has grown tired. Worst, its people can now afford to throw away the only thing left- faith in the hands of our youth. Spectators, friends, brothers and sisters, our very own motherland is rocked by deceit threatening to ruin her foundations. During these trying times, What then is our only hope? History proved that not even wars nor earthquakes or any forms of calamity can put her down. She remained firm and formidable, keeping her torch burning deathlessly in the darkest of our history’s glory. A great man once said, “The Youth is the Hope our Fatherland.” We believed in him once. Now that he is, but a golden memory in the pillars of Philippine history. Dreamful youth, please..make us believe in him again. Yes, I may not be speaking with aged experience nor with plausible eloquence yet i will never falter for I know and I believe that I am one of the keys that will open the gates of greatness for my country’s future. I am very proud to say that I am a mundane symbol of hope and so are you. Let me tell you that right at the very moment you were hurled out of your mother’s womb, you became one of us, a new breed of hope that assumes responsibility, to defy history and change a nation’s destiny. So brother, let us be the warriors of change, catalyst of hope and fighters for love. Let us replace rebellion with vigilance, boldness for recklessness, prudence for ignorance, unity for selfishness and truth for all lies. Brother, this battle is about you and me. If we do not fight side by side for our only hope, who else will? So let us be that warrior who may never conquer a kingdom nor vanquish a city but defeats his tongue and stands firm in truth and justice and is willing to pay the price for honest independence amidst a world of vulture and thieves even if it cost him his life. My fellow youth, in order to take full responsibility of the challenges imposed on us, we should not be rock-like structures of knowledge or an empty-handed statue of honesty. Instead, we should be like the flowing stream, crashing waves forever moving towards development and progress under clear conscience of an honest cent amidst a lying billion peso ready to face the inflections of circumstances full of veracity, life and hope. Blending these elements would mold an abode of triumphant dreams. Now, I urge you to walk with me in the noble heights of excellence. I call to you honest youth to answer the queries of unending passion for service. I command you to search the bliss of harmony in truth and let us promise ourselves to smile in our meeting with death for we know that what we do in life echoes through eternity. Friends, countrymen, as the course of our history would bring us to the realm of existence, let our voices be heard in the vastness of the universe. Let it be known to the world, from Indio to global Filipino, ready for change and ready to change. Come, walk and march with me. Gregarious, Juan de la Cruz.
