OIL SPILL REPORTED IN ST. MAARTEN: Divers to determine damage 12 MAY 2014: Environmentalists in the Dutch Caribbean island of St. Maarten are investigating an oil spill that occurred Friday near a popular tourist area. The non-profit St. Maarten Nature Foundation said the spill was reported near the Simpson Bay area. It is unclear what caused the spill or how much oil was released. The foundation said it alerted government officials and will patrol and send divers to the area to determine the extent of the damage.
