OJE FLOATS NEW PDP IN GOMBE Category: Inside politics Published on Tuesday, 08 October 2013 05:00 Written by Adamu Saleh, Gombe Hits: 1571 The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Gombe State has been split into two with emergence of the new PDP in the state. The new PDP in Gombe is made up of local government chairmen that served during the administration of Mohammed Danjuma Goje as governor of the state. Leader of the new PDP in Gombe, Mohammed Umar Shabuki, a former member of the Gombe State House of Assembly confirmed to newsmen yesterday that there is new PDP in Gombe State. He said the new PDP phenomenon has been on for long in the state and that the membership spreads across the length and breadth of the state. Shabuki said most of the founding members of the PDP in the state are in the nPDP under the leadership of Senator Goje. He said the aim of the nPDP is to correct the wrongs within the party especially the way it is being run as a personal property by some selected individuals. “Members of the nPDP are in better position to decide the fate of the party because they are the founders of the party. Most of the people that hijacked the affairs of the party at both national and state levels are people who do not know when and how the party was formed and that is why they don’t care if the party is destroyed today,” he said. He said those saying there is no nPDP in Gombe are the leaders of the old PDP stressing that “what I want people to understand is that politics is an issue of choice and we have choose to go with the nPDP and we are bona fide sons and daughters of Gombe, we have every right to go to wherever we feel like going provided it is within the ambit of the law.” Shabuki said Senator Danjuma Goje is the father of all PDP members in the state including the governor, as far as Gombe PDP is concerned. “If you want to follow a persons, it is not right to follow a son but follow the father and that is why we are tilting to wherever Senator Goje is tilting to politically,” he added.
