OK - now its my turn. Number 6. 1. I never had any formal training in my career field. There were no degrees for PC based IT technologies back when I got started. Right place at the right time. My university education has always been in the political science and history realm. Ive been to five universities and have over 150 hours but still dont have a degree. Only 3 hours left on this degree at UTD though. 2. I watched Superman: The Movie more times than I can remember. I can recite big chunks of the movie without seeing it. It was an unhealthy number. Im quite the Superman fanatic. I have this problem with several other movies as well - I even remember a huge part of the dialog in Grease because my sister watched it incessantly. 3. I once went to San Francisco to help a childhood friend move back to her home in Omaha. She, her younger brother, and I drove half-way across the country in a Renault Le Car. Tire popped in the Nevada desert, Muffler exploded on the highway outside of either Laramie or Cheyenne, Wyoming – can’t recall. We tried to put duct-tape on it because we got pulled over for having a loud vehicle. Duct-tape melted and we had to deal with the most horrible smell the rest of the trip. upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/8/83/Renault5-Le_Car.jpg 4. I got to meet George H.W. Bush at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO. He was Vice President at the time. My brother, Steve, and I were running a booth for one of our family’s fishing lures. Secret Service folks started showing up and things got really strange. We were then told that the VP would be using our booth to speak from. Bush talked to both of us and shook our hands before speaking. 5. In 1995 I decided, on a whim, to buy a ticket to Europe (Brussels, Belgium) and go spend four days across the pond. Neither I, nor anyone in my family, had been to Europe before. I didn’t have any plans or places to see or anything. I just bought a ticket and got a hotel. I toured around Brussels for several days before hopping on a train up to Amsterdam. I went there and back in one day. Crazy trip but so cool. 6. When I was 16 I rabbit stopped at the intersection of 6th and F Street in Fort Smith and was hit by a Trailways bus doing 50 in a 30. There was a tree that blocked my view on the right and I didn’t see it at all. The 78 Oldsmobile Station Wagon that I was in was spun around like a top, hit the bus twice, and landed bent around a pole. It was totally destroyed save the driver side immediately around me. I was dazed but unhurt. One of several miraculous near-misses in my life. mclellansautomotive/photos/B23397.jpg
