OK EVERYONE, WE NEED YOUR HELP!!! This is Nena, ResQpaws very FIRST shelter rescue and the very FIRST foster we have ever had. Her family has received orders to Japan and because she has a blocky head and a hack job of an ear crop, (it was determined that someone used scissors to cut her ears off.) she cannot go with them. I am absolutely heartbroken for my friends who love her with all their hearts and I am devastated for Nena. My sister and I pulled Nena from the old Sutter County shelter about 3 years ago. Her photo popped up on Facebook and there was no question. We had to save this sick, emaciated, dehydrated, and neglected soul. It also just happened to be the middle of one of the worst winter storms we have in recent times. I swear the scene was straight out of a movie. Nena had bloody discharge seeping from her nose, a cough that sounded like she was choking and of course she was in heat. She spent two nights at Adobe Animal Hospital where she was tested for everything under the sun. I was so sure and terrified that she would test positive for Distemper, due to the amount of bloody discharge coming from her eyes and nose. She was even kept in quarantine where she could recover or pass on in as much comfort as possible. Then the miracle happened. Nena began to recover. She simply needed some IV fluids and serious antibiotics to treat a very strong URI which turned into Pneumonia. As she recovered in my sisters home, our close friend began visit her more and more often. There was definitely a bond forming. Nena would perk up every time Josh came to see her and we knew that she had found her new daddy. Finally, he made the announcement that he was taking her home and we could not have been more elated. Nena is about 4 years old, spayed and up to date on vaccinations. She is completely potty trained, knows how to go to her bed on command and loves children of all ages. She even adores cats!!!! Nena is a fantastic running partner, knows her basic commands and will let you know when there is someone at the door. Because of her looks she can even scare away burglars, but it will be our little secret that shes just a big lovely girl who wants to cuddle and play with everyone she meets.
