OK Gareth Cliff. The KZN provincial government paid for the funeral of Senzo Meyiwa. Private individuals, Orlando Pirates Football Club and private companies like Spar also contributed. Moses Mabhida Stadium is a property of Ethekwini Metropolitan Municipality, so I guess they also gave permission for the venue to be used. And you say that Messi would not be given a state funeral in Argentina. How do you know that? In the UK football legends are burried like royalty. Statues of them are worshipped everywhere. I still fail to understand why people are complaining. Senzo was the current serving captain of the national sport. He was the most important football player in SA, both in terms of leadership and on field performance. He was not an ordinary sportsman. Minister Mbalula is wrong if he simply avoids his duty to account to the populace by insulting you. Likewise you were also wrong to badmouth Meyiwa just so you can put your point accross. I doubt that you are football a supporter. You do not sound like one. Your commentary about the sport and the player is misinformed, with all due respect. I take it that you were trying to suggest that Senzo was not important enough to receive a provincial funeral. You are entitled to your opinion. As a KZNer I feel that he did. He was both a national and a provincial hero to me.
