OK, Im sure I will get some flack from this comment, but oh well. . . So Ray Rice was fired for hitting his fiancé (wife) or was he fired because all of the public outcry? He was given a 2 game suspension, which I thought was soft, and that was what they deemed appropriate by the league at the time. In light of the anniversary of 9/11, we all saw the after effects of a plane hitting the Pentagon though we didnt see the actual crash like the ones into the World Trade Towers. I ask, did not seeing the actual crash make the act less egregious? Fast forward the Rice situation, I saw an unconscious woman being dragged out of a elevator and a man admitting to punching her with such force to cause her to be rendered unconscious. Seeing the actual event didnt change my mind, I knew from all information presented that this was a horrible situation and severe punishment was warranted. I knew that 2 games was less than a slap on the wrist. . . but I also know that was the punishment the NFL decided upon! I understand that the public is the audience, but they are not parties to the Collective Bargaining units, so the public should not be able to dictate to the NFL what is sufficient or not when it comes to punishment. This is the same public that want to ban Michael Vick for life!
