OK Summer Mayne , you jinxed me. My Vintage 17 inch MacBook Pro - TopicsExpress

OK Summer Mayne , you jinxed me. My Vintage 17 inch MacBook Pro started acting up last week. It changed the time on its own back 80 something minutes and it started making a loud whirring sound as if the fan was dragging. So I took it to the Genius Bar at the Apple Store at Festival Walk Mall in Hong Kong on Monday (It is now Tuesday night here). They did a hardware test and told me it was probably just dust causing the fan to drag and they told me they would clean. I picked it up an hour later. When I got home at 11:30 pm (It is about 2 1/2 hours from Hong Kong to Longgang, Shenzhen, China), I plugged in my MacBook Pro and hit the start button. I had nothing but a black screen. Back to Hong Kong today and they finally tell me one of the memory slots is bad (not the memory itself but the slot) and so I now only have 1 slot running. They didnt volunteer to replace mine with a new one but did tell me they could not repair it if it fails because it is a Vintage model and they no longer have parts for it. They suggested I buy a new one. So you get a new Mac and I get a suggestion to buy a new one.
