OK one of my many friends mentioned balls of white stuff on the ground outside her home, cuz her cat/dog Mr. (something) went out and came right back in. I cant find her post now. BUT I found out that we had the same thing here in the Eastern Massachusetts area. They said it can happen in the fall months and is called GRAUPEL. a very rare type of precipitation. Seems it starts out as big fluffy flakes of snow that then pass through a layer of freezing mist.
