OK, this is a re-posting of my New Years Resolution post from 6 months ago, and something of a State of the RtR, as it were. Here we sit at the halfway point of 2014 and I thought it was worth checking in on The Republic and Liberty in general. If you read, (or some of you re-read) my poetically challenged opining from last holiday season, youll note my many references to the 100 years of destroying liberty and my eventual belief that we were heading somewhere wonderful in spite of all the tyranny and governmental intrusion and chaos all around us. I would argue today, that this is true. This year, thus far, truly has been an awakening. From Edward Snowden and the NSA debacle to the public unraveling of the lies of Obamacare, to the GOP ripping itself apart in a last gasp of neo-con fearfulness of any and all lovers of liberty, its happening. The false sides of Left and Right continue to call each other names and imply vast differences in policy we no longer believe, sure, but those questioning the rhetoric have never numbered greater. This IS the beginning of the new future. Make no mistake, it will be rocky, painful, perhaps even violent at times, but it IS coming. Facebook has all but squelched opinion pages with newer, more controlling algorithms which has caused some directional changes for all of us. On our end here at RtR, you have no doubt seen a vast decline in commentary, shared content, and links. This is a result of each of our Admins seeking other avenues to share the message of freedoms and acknowledging the truth that this format is a fading soldier in our fight. A few months back I was going nuts trying to reconfigure our settings to get broader coverage and get back to reaching so many more than we can now. That was a few months ago. Now I see a few truths. 1.) At this stage of our plight, Restoring the Republic wouldnt be the best name for our efforts anyway. 2.) Facebook still has a place in the fight, but an ever dwindling one, To the latter, we accept this and are each working on new projects and interests while also reveling in rejoining life OFF-line. To the former, Id simply say this; We are loyal to our page name and the original concept, but we have outgrown it. The AMERICA we love and honor is not now, nor was it ever, a flag, a bunch of marble buildings, or group of idiots in Armani and Brooks Bros telling us how great we are. There is no need to fight to RESTORE the Republic. It was the larvae. The utter corruption and conflict and clown show that is government today, the chrysalides. The truly free people enjoying liberty heretofore unseen on this planet are the butterflies we await. Just as our sublime Constitution was intended, and subsequently failed, to limit the beast of government and tyranny, now the inverse becomes true. The tyrannical government that tore through the shackles The Constitution held can no longer hold back the IDEA that is AMERICA. The willful entrepreneurs, the boundless thinkers, the creative inventors, the cavalier adventurers all. We are The Markets and the markets succeed in spite of, rather than thanks to government regulation. Yes, individual people, companies, and concepts fail, but these too, are evidence of the markets success. Innovation, in EVERY form, is a thumb in the eye of order. Regulations cling to the ankles of exceptionalism. Government is the anchor, free people and innovation are the bounding ships and the powerful currents of the future. Well continue to post on this page, but never so much as we did in the past. Moving forward, and that is what we are ALL doing, we will use this page to share links and information about other projects, lives, interactions and fun. No, we neednt dwell on Restoring the Republic, nor should we weep over the cruel injustices the dying tyranny still tosses our way. Today the future arrives. 2014 IS the beginning of the end of this mess. Liberty isnt a destination, nor is merely a movement. Liberty is a journey full of wonder and wilds. I wont rush away a moment longer wishing for a future as I age more. From now on I remember to enjoy each moment in the present for its brilliance. The old guard is dying off. Let them die. Their sun is setting. Grab a cold drink and watch it with me. Our sun is rising. Carl@RtR Intrepid Opimist
